The Garden Gang at The Macs Farm
We're growing for a better future...
The Garden Gang was started 2 years ago from a simple Facebook post! We simply reached out to see if any local people would like to spend some time growing their own food on the farm… the post went wild and we were flooded with new members!
Today, The Garden Gang has a number of dedicated volunteers as well as a farm school and two mental health charities that spend time in the garden.
The Garden Gang is so much more than a garden. It is now a registered Community Interest Company. It’s a hub for education, creativity, sustainability and community connections. Our two acre site provides opportunities for young people and adults from all backgrounds to learn, grow and build meaningful relationships. We believe in the power of nature to bring people together, improve mental and physical health and foster a sense of belonging.
What We Do
Gardening Activities: Our dedicated volunteers participate in various gardening tasks and together, we cultivate a vibrant garden that benefits the entire community.
Educational Partnerships: We offer opportunities for young people to work in the community garden and with our animals. This helps them build skills like resilience, motivation, confidence, independence and a strong work ethic.
Community Engagement: We organise open days, garden tours and community events to bring people together and celebrate the joys of gardening and growing organic produce. These events are a great opportunity to meet new people, share knowledge and enjoy the garden. You can even buy produce grown in the garden.
